Congratulations, Khamry, Our Prize-Winning Small Business Owner!

Congratulations, Khamry Varfley, staff member at Rochambeau Library, who was awarded second place in the Rhode Island Black Business Association’s (RIBBA's) Young Adult Business Pitch Competition! Competitors presented their business pitches to a panel of judges, followed by a Q&A segment, at Sprout CoWorking on Saturday, April 30th.

Light Up the Night with Free Bike Lights!

The Rhode Island Bicycle Coalition's (RIBike) "Light Up the Night" campaign wants to help Rhode Islanders stay on their bikes and stay visible as we head into the darker winter months.  As the number of daylight hours shrink, riding at low visibility times becomes an inevitability.  RIBikes's goal is to help provide the equipment needed to enable people to continue to ride safely throughout the entire year.

We have been selected as a 2021 AARP Community Challenge Grantee!

Providence Community Library is thrilled to announce that Knight Memorial Library  has been selected to receive a 2021 AARP Community Challenge grant. We are one of only 244 grantees selected from across all 50 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and one of only three from Rhode Island!

Congratulations, GED graduates!

On Saturday, June 19, the graduation ceremony was held for 19 students who successfully completed the GED program in Spanish, which Providence Community Library offers free of charge to the Latino community.  Teachers Deysy Delgado, Emilia Perez and Hipolio Reyes addressed the students with words of congratulations and good wishes for their future. The Mayor of Providence, Mr. Jorge Elorza, was also present, congratulating the graduates and motivating them to continue their studies until they achieve their goals.

Stay Cool at the Library!

It's June and the hot weather has arrived!

Fortunately, eight out of nine (all except Knight Memorial) Providence Community Library locations serve as Emergency Cooling Center locations in the city. You are welcome to visit and take a break from the heat during scheduled hours. Please note that visits to library buildings are currently limited to one hour. Providence also has several waterparks

NEW: Introducing the Providence Seed Library!

Providence Community Library is excited to be part of the new Providence Seed Library, a partnership between PCL, Providence Public Library and the City of Providence Office of Sustainability. The goal of the project is to provide beginning and experienced gardeners in our local communities with free access to quality seeds and to support BIPOC-led food justice and environmental justice efforts.
