A New Virtual Club for Your Teen: PVD Young Gamers
Providence Community Library has a new club for teens, led by a teen: PVD Young Gamers. The club is a safe space, where teen gamers can meet and talk online as they enjoy gaming together, and is the creation of Richard Orellana, PVD Young Makers Intern at Olneyville Library.

We're Helping Providence with Vaccine Appointments & Testing
Getting vaccinated is at the top of many people's minds in Providence but the process of getting an appointment, even for eligible residents, can be a difficult one. Last month, PCL staff started to assist the City of Providence in the critical task of getting residents signed up for appointments at Providence COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics and at certain retail clinic sites serving hard-hit communities in Providence zipcodes. We're offering testing, too.
Kids' Contest: My Favorite Bilingual Book
Dia Day is always a highlight of Spring at PCL, but with the pandemic still with us, things are a little different. However, we are still holding an annual creative contest for children! Three Lively Spring Events from PCL READS
PCL READS, our citywide book club, continues its virtual tour around our PCL locations and invites YOU to participate in three lively author talks and book discussions this spring!
Feminist geographer Leslie Kern will join us on Monday, April 12 at 6:00pm, thanks to our co-host, Groundwork Rhode Island. She will discuss her book Feminist City, a revelatory read combining personal memoir, feminist theory and pop culture analysis.
Master The Art of Taking It Easy with Big Library Read!
The global digital book club, Big Library Read, is featuring The Art of Taking it Easy by Dr. Brian King, with no waitlists or holds through April 19. A psychologist and a stand-up comedian, Dr. King provides a practical, yet laugh-out-loud guide to embracing humor to reduce stress and live a happier, fuller life. A perfect title for our times!
We're Offering Activities for All Ages During National Poetry Month
April is National Poetry Month and Providence Community Library is planning four weeks of activities that will appeal to adults, families, and children alike. Check the PCL calendar for the schedule, which includes poetry reading by community members, adult poetry prompts for each weekend and a poetry bingo card event for families.
What Now: Empowering Youth With Three Exciting Town Hall Events
Providence Community Library is proud to present a series of teen-led, town hall- style panels about turning passion into civic action in Rhode Island. Each virtual panel is moderated by students who are PVD Young Maker interns and encourage interaction from audience members; bring questions!
Providence Children's Film Festival 2021 Virtual Events
Providence Community Library will host three special screenings during the week of February 15-20. Watch the movie on the day of the program any time between 10:00AM and 7:00PM and tune into a zoom meeting for a discussion and Q & A at 3:00PM with one of the film's creators!
