This hands-on workshop series for parents of preschool-age children (3-5) is based on a program called Mother Goose Asks “Why?,” which links children’s literature and science by using picture books and a family activity that make learning fun.
The series will give parents suggestions on how to introduce science projects to your children through the great books you can read to them. Like stories, scientific investigations usually start with a question or a problem.
Reading provides opportunities to identify and explore problems using the imagination, process skills of science, and tools to find solutions. And reading together encourages the sharing of ideas.
The projects that you will enjoy in the series are designed so that you can continue them at home for no cost or low cost. A new book will be presented each week, and the instructor will intentionally include connections to language, literacy, and science.
NOTE: Due to space considerations, this workshop series is limited to ten (10) parents.
