Community Town Hall Meeting to discuss the Providence Municipal Reparations Commission.
In July 2020, the City of Providence launched a three-phase process to advance Truth-telling, Reconciliations and Reparations for African heritage and Indigenous residents. In February 2022, Mayor Elorza signed an Executive Order establishing the Providence Municipal Reparations Commission to address the injuries outlined in the Truth Telling and Reconciliation phases and provide clear recommendations to the City on appropriate policies, programs, and projects to begin repairing harm.
Now, the City has allocated $10 MILLION of American Rescue Plan funds to advance this work. The Providence Municipal Reparations Commission wants to hear from YOU before making recommendations to the City of Providence to advance reparations! Please see dates and times below for the Reparations Commission’s Community Town Halls!
